Travel Trailers - How Much is Too Much?

I just read an article over on Truck Trend that Airstream is coming out with a Victorinox edition (i.e. Swiss Army Knife) Trailer for $60,000. Now, don't get me wrong, Airstream makes some nice trailers, but $60k for a travel trailer struck me as a little steep. It's one thing if it's a triple-axle toy hauler, but for "just" a travel trailer, that seems on the high side. What do you think?

Airstream's name alone brings with it some good resale value, and while $60K may seem like a lot for "just a trailer"...it has long term value. Although I'll be the first to admit that their newer trailers are no where as classic and as well crafted as the earlier models. With that said, the trailer you referred to is a “Victorinox Special Edition Airstream." It is a 19 foot trailer and only 125 units are being made, which explains why it is so highly priced!
Airstream says it embodies the "shared qualities and philosophies: precision, functionality, reliability and a classically elegant design,” of the Swiss Watch.

The idea was to make only 125 units to celebrate 125 of being in business, according to Airstream. I like it and think others will appreciate something that harkens back to the good ol' days of Airstream classic gagetry, nooks and crannies.

Larry, I suppose you have a point. I've seen plenty of Class C's priced near or even above $100k in some cases, so I guess it's not that exorbitant. But for a poor working stiff like myself, I think I'd probably find something a little more budget-friendly. I personally kind of like the look of those Coachmen Shasta Airflyte retro-style trailers. I know they're not an Airstream, but they're a neat look for a reasonable price.

In 2011 Airstream announced that they have teamed with Eddie Bauer to introduce a hot new trailer geared out the fans of fashion...I think it's great news. Elevates RVing to another level.
